1972年 演出家・映画監督の蜷川幸雄とキルト作家の真山知子（蜷川宏子）の間に生まれる。
多摩美術大学美術学部グラフィックデザイン学科を卒業。日本の女性写真家、映画監督。小山登美夫ギャラリーに所属。
2001年 木村伊兵衛写真賞(写真界の芥川賞と言われる)受賞。
2007年 映画『さくらん』で、初の映画監督を務める。
2010年 AKB48「ヘビーローテーション」のPV監督。
2016年 4月号から『AERA』の表紙写真を担当。
2020年 東京オリンピック・パラリンピック組織委員会理事。
国際的に活躍する蜷川は圧倒的な人気と注目を集め、その活動は、映画、ファッション、音楽、映像と様々なジャンルへと広がりを見せている。その極彩色の鮮烈な写真は観るものの心を捉えて 離さない。また2020年東京オリンピック・組織委員会の理事にも就任し今後の活動が期待される。
